Welcome to Marjorie McClure Specialist School
As from September 1st 2007, Marjorie McClure School is a specialist school for Physical Development.
This means that the school will focus on raising the standard of physical development of all pupils through work in English, Maths, PSHE and PE. We will be able to work on removing the barriers to learning for our pupils across the curriculum.
The additional funding allowed the school to build a specific area to promote physical development and to employ a member of staff to support the individual therapy programmes of pupils.
Through specialist status, the school also has to work with 5 partners and help them to develop their skills in supporting pupils with physical difficulties. Our partners are; Coopers Technology College, Mead Rd Infants, Chislehurst Primary, Burnt Ash Primary and the Local authority.
Another part of our specialist status requires us to develop links with the community and work with other agencies to support young adults with physical difficulties and improve their access to community facilities. We are also developing person centred planning through a new agenda for transitional reviews which allows pupils to feel that they are able to participate in all parts of the discussion about their future.
All in all, this is a very exciting time for the school and we look forward to developing our plans over the next 4 years.
